We present a new section on swine influenza. In it, we will publish 10 papers on swine flu over the next 12 months.
Some of the authors contributing to this section are, among others: Gaëlle Simon, Susan Detmer, Montse Torremorell, Gerard Martin, Lars Erik Larsen and Phil Gauger.
In the first article, entitled "Detection and Diagnosis of Influenza A virus: infection and clinical disease in pigs", by Phillip C. Gauger, the author shows that the use of influenza vaccines and the existence of endemic active infections in many regions may limit the benefit of serological tests for influenza. Therefore, their results must be interpreted in their particular context, taking into account the specific characteristics of the farm and the whole history.
