Syringe and vial carrier

You can use old wicker baskets, builder’s buckets, etc., but I will now show you a syringe carrier at zero cost made with recycled materials.

Goal

Make a syringe carrier at a zero cost and with recycled materials.

Every day, we must check the pig’ health. The person in charge of this task must carry with them everything that is needed for the eventual treatment of the animals. Therefore, they must have a container that can hold the syringes (2 at least), needles (with several gauges and sizes), drugs (of several kinds, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, etc.), as well as a marker to identify the animals that have been treated.

You can use old wicker baskets, builder’s buckets, etc., but I will now show you a syringe carrier at zero cost made with recycled materials.

Materials

  • A 25-liter container
  • A cutter
  • A drill and bits

We will cut a window on a 20/25-litre container (a disinfectant or distilled water container) with a cutter on the side opposite to the cap, at some 10 cm from the bottom, obtaining enough space to insert the different bottles and spare needles.

On top, we will make holes of different sizes with the drill, according to the shape of the needles that we use (see the photo). This is very important, because in this way we will avoid accidental pricks, because the needles will remain hidden, and we will be able to use the syringe carrier safely and easily. This does not happen with other kinds of syringe carriers. Another advantage is that the bottles will always remain in a vertical position, and this cannot be guarantee by other kinds of containers.

With a thick wire, we can make an “S” on the containers’ handle so we can hang it.

Easy, practical and cheap.
