Danish Farm Design - Denmark AuthorBjarne Kornbek Pedersen was born in Denmark in 1957, where he completed a practical and theoretical degree in agriculture. He received his M.S. degree in 1984 from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen. From 1985 to 1989 he was working for The Danish Bacon and Meat Council being in charge of applied research regarding evaluation of housing and technology for sows and weaners. In 1989 he enrolled in a Ph.D- program at the University of Illinois, which he completed in 1992 specializing in environmental physiology, animal behaviour and welfare. Upon receiving his degree he continued his career as R&D director at the Danish Bacon and Meat Council, where he was coordinator of applied research projects regarding pig housing, health and welfare. Since October 2001 he was head of the Housing and Production Systems Department. October 2002 he became R&D Manager at Egebjerg one of the largest Danish pig equipment manufacturers. Later, he became general manager of the same company. In June 2004 he started his own company Danish Farm Design A/S, which is specializing in product development, planning and design of pig houses as well as management of pig farms internationally. He is member of the exam board of Copenhagen University, Life Sciences.
