Daniel Ekhlas
TEAGASC - The Irish Food and Agriculture Authority - Ireland AuthorDaniel Ekhlas is a Walsh Scholar Ph.D. student at Teagasc and the University College Dublin, studying the impact of zinc oxide supplementation on the development of antimicrobial resistances on pig farms in Ireland.
In 2016, he completed his B.Sc. in Molecular Microbiology at the University of Graz, Austria (“Vital and Lethal Functions of Aif1 and its Interactors in Saccharomyces cerevisiae BY4741 and TB50”).
From 2016-2017, Mr. Ekhlas continued his studies abroad at the University of Tokyo, Japan in form of a student exchange program and completed his M.Sc. in Biotechnology at the University of Graz, Austria in 2018 (“Microbial Community Changes Associated with Combined Sewer Overflow in an Urban River in Tokyo”).
Since 2018, Mr. Ekhlas has been investigating antimicrobial resistance development and dissemination on Irish pig farms together with his colleague Mr. Juan Manuel Ortiz Sanjuan, under the supervision of Dr. Kaye Burgess, Dr. Finola Leonard.
