Fabio Ostanello was born in Pavia (PV - Italy) on March 25th, 1964. In 1990 he graduated in Veterinary Medicine at Bologna University (Italy). He held courses of Large Animals Infectious Diseases and Veterinary epidemiology at Bologna and Padova Schools of Veterinary Medicine.
Of the lines of research that he has participated in, the most important are the Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, the Aujeszky Disease Virus (ADV), the Hepatitis E Virus (HEV), torque teno virus and diseases associated with Porcine Circovirus type 2 (PCV2). The latter is mainly addressed to the role of PCV2 in swine reproductive pathology in experimental models (infection by PCV2 exposed semen in gilts vaccinated and not vaccinated against PCV2 with the aim to ascertain reproductive failure and embrio/foetus damage.
