Joan Escobet
Confort Porcino - Spain AuthorJoan Escobet Riu (1966) holds a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). He has practised his professional activity at several companies related with the swine sector. He started his activity at PIC SPAIN, S.A. between years 1990 and 1999, becoming the Hired Production Director, apart from carrying out a professional stay in the USA and Mexico in order to learn about swine production in large scale farms with a three-stage production system (Isowean®) for its later implementation in Spain.
From November 1999 to year 2003 he worked as Production Director at SAT SUIS to manage, coordinate and structure a newly created area. He was Production Manager at DANBRED SPAIN S.L. from September 2003 to October 2006, with a professional stay in Denmark to learn about the organization, the Danish production system, and the health and genetics program with the aim of planning and developing the start-up and the duties of the company in Spain. On October 2006 he joined MARCO I COLLELL S.L., currently MARCOVETGRUP S.L., specializing in environmental and energy control at the farms, apart from carrying out different duties in the company.
Since June 2016 he works as a freelance, following with his specialisation in order to provide the best possible service in terms of Environmental and Energy Control on farms with Confort Porcino© (Pig Comfort). Joan has taught many courses, written articles published in journals/magazines and has collaborated in the publishing of several books. He is Professor of the Swine Health and Production MSc degree (University of Lleida-University of Saragossa-Complutense University of Madrid). He teaches courses and holds conferences on the swine production, housing and facilities fields and on environmental control.
