Jorge Martínez
Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) - Spain AuthorDr. Jorge Martínez was born in Valencia, Spain. He graduated in Veterinary Science/Medicine from the Cardenal Herrera University (CEU) of Valencia in 2001. In 2006 he gained his PhD from the same University thanks to his research on the monitoring of swine health at abattoirs. In 2005 he started his internship in Anatomical Pathology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), and in 2010 he earned the certification by the European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP).
Since 2010 he works as a professor at the UAB. Most of his research career has focused on swine pathology and, especially, on respiratory diseases. Currently, he develops his main research as a researcher asigned to the Animal Health Research Centre (Centre de Recerca en Sanitat Animal, CreSA), cooperating with several lines of research related to animal health: influenza, porcine circovirus, mycoplasmosis and African swine fever. He also collaborates actively with companies in the bio-sanitary sector through the setting-up of agreements and the development of lines of research in the private sector.
