Swine consultant - Spain AuthorJosé Barceló was born in Ribas de Fresser (Girona, Spain) on 08-09-1959. He grew up on farms specialising in swine, cattle and the production of animal feeds.
He graduated at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Zaragoza (Spain) in 1981, specialising in Animal Production. He spent several years working in his family's livestock businesses, then in 1988 and 1989 he studied and practised with swine sector specialists in Great Britain, Holland and USA.
When he returned to Spain at the end of 1989 he began his own swine consultancy. In 1991 he formed B&M c.v.p. with his partner Enric Marco and in 1995 the consultancy expanded with the incorporation of new partner, Miquel Collell. B&M offer the following services to their clients: disease control and diagnosis, production control and herd management, epidemiology, environment control, herd optimization, biosecurity and human resources. Among their clients there are genetic companies, large enterprises (10,000 - 30,000 sows), cooperatives, independent producers, veterinary faculties, pharmaceutical companies, animal feed producers and international organisations. B&M has developed advisory bodies in several countries in Europe and South America. B&M is also the creator of the internet website www.3tres3.com.
From June 2002 until July 2003 he worked in the United States (KY-Franklin). In January 2006 B&M was dissolved and since then José Barceló continued to work as a consultant of swine projects in different countries, he was responsible for the school Sus Scrofa Fundaci?arcel?nd he was the only member of the old B&M who continued working with the 3tres3 website.
José Barceló was member of diverse associations (IVS, IPVS, AASP, ANAPORC, Real Academia de Ciencias de Catalunya...) and he took part in numerous international and national conferences.
He passed away on 28 of june 2009 at the age of 49.
