Theo van Kempen
Nutreco and North Carolina State University - Netherlands AuthorTheo van Kempen grew up on a livestock farm in the South of Netherlands. Intrigued by animal production he first got an MSc degree in Animal Husbandry and Nutrition from the Agricultural University in Wageningen, and subsequently a PhD in Nutrition from the University of Illinois.
Subsequently, he worked in the pharmaceutical industry in product development and in the chemical industry focused on quality control for feed manufacturing.
In 1998 he got the opportunity to return to academia at which point he became professor in swine nutrition/waste management at North Carolina State University.
In 2004 he returned to Europe where he works in nutrition research/product development, now with Nutreco, and while still maintaining an adjunct professor position at NCSU.
