With over 600 exhibitors from 29 countries, the AgroTech Russia International Exhibition for Agricultural Machinery has registered the best attendance since its inception four years ago. The exhibition was held from 8 to 11 October 2010 at the All-Russian Exhibition Centre in Moscow as part of ‘Russian Agricultural Industry Week’ which has developed this year from the traditional ‘Golden Autumn’ exhibition. The organisers, the Agricultural Sector of AREC Llc. (APK VVC) and DLG International GmbH (a subsidiary of the German Agricultural Society, DLG e.V.), expressed themselves as very pleased with the excellent international attendance. Almost half of the exhibitors at AgroTech Russia came from outside Russia, a significant increase compared with the last event. With a total of 62 exhibitors, including 44 companies at a joint stand, Germany was the most strongly represented country, followed by Canada with 39, Italy with 38, the Netherlands with 33 and China with 27 exhibitors.Exhibitors were very satisfied both with the event itself and with the outcome from AgroTech Russia. According to the provisional results of a survey, over 60 per cent of them were pleased or very pleased that they had attended. 80 per cent of exhibitors were satisfied or very satisfied with the number and quality of the visitors. According to the survey, exhibitors were also able to make new contacts and to strengthen existing commercial relationships. Most companies regarded the current position of the Russian market as positive. Around 90 per cent of exhibitors intend to be present again at the next AgroTech Russia in 2011.
At roughly 20,000 farmers and agribusiness professionals, visitor numbers to AgroTech Russia were regarded as very good. A survey carried out among the visitors showed that attendance by those with a professional interest in the sector rose from 77 per cent in 2009 to 94 per cent this year.
Innovative production methods were at the centre of the technical programme
In addition to the outstanding range of exhibitors, visitors showed great interest in the technical programme at AgroTech Russia. Numerous forums were held with representatives from the worlds of politics, science, industry and agriculture to discuss modern production methods and the importance of equipping farms with the latest technology. A particular highlight was the conference entitled ‘Modernisation and improved efficiency as the basis for the sustainable development of the agroindustrial complex in Russia’ at which speakers included high-ranking government officials and politicians. This provided scope for a broad exchange of opinions and experience.
In view of the severe drought over the summer, there was particular interest in farming methods which use less water, the measures being taken to improve the situation, plus agricultural insurance and loan extension schemes.
Young farmers were given the opportunity at a youth forum to discuss innovative developments and future prospects for the agricultural sector in Russia.
Speakers at the individual events included representatives from the government, the national and regional ministries of agriculture and their official agencies, financial organisations and the agricultural engineering industry, together with experts from home and abroad in the areas of agricultural equipment and arable farming, market analysts and farmers.
The next AgroTech Russia will be held between 6 and 9 October 2011 in Moscow as part of ‘Russian Agricultural Industry Week’.
