AlltechAlltech, world leaders in the development of natural feed supplements and nutrition, has launched an integrated Mycotoxin Management Programme designed to detect and address the risk caused by more than 37 types of mycotoxin within the supply chain.

Mycotoxins are toxic contaminants which, produced by moulds, can be found in forage, feed and bedding and present a growing challenge to animal health and productivity.

To counter this threat, Alltech’s Mycotoxin Management Programme provides targeted help to farmers, feed mills and producers, in the form of the 37+ Program and the MIKO Program. Both will harness the extended capabilities of the company’s new, next generation mycotoxin binder Mycosorb A+.

“It is now more important than ever to have a documented mycotoxin control program in place”, said Dr. Swamy Haladi, global technical manager, Mycotoxin Management Team. “As the price of feed rises, the use of alternative raw ingredients increases and the need for improved feed efficiency is paramount. We know mycotoxins are going to be more prevalent in certain processed raw materials and also that mycotoxins can negatively affect health and feed efficiency, ultimately impacting profitability. The potential threat of mycotoxin residues to human health should also be factored in.”

Alltech’s new 37+ Program can help farmers detect over 37 mycotoxins in finished feeds, raw materials and forages helping them to pinpoint the specific cause of a mycotoxin problem.

To assist feed mills and producers, Alltech’s MIKO Program is based on the principles of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), and is designed to identify the mycotoxin risks within a given farm or feed mill and create a plan to minimise the risks for the animal and consequently, for consumers.

At the heart of the new Mycotoxin Management Programme is new Mycosorb A+.

Alltech - Ian LeachBacked by 18 years of research and patent protected technology, Mycosorb A+ meets this challenge by offering superior binding capabilities, a broader adsorption profile and increased efficacy.

“We are very excited to be launching Mycosorb A+ here in the UK”, says Ian Leach, Regional Director of Alltech UK. “Mycosorb A+ is the result of progressive development and successor to what is already Europe’s no. 1 mycotoxin binder. Our continued drive for excellence has identified a new approach, and further functional carbohydrates, that have given the product even greater absorptive capacity over an even wider range of mycotoxins. With Mycosorb A+ at the core of our Mycotoxin Management Programme we can offer customers solutions that limit the effects of more mycotoxins than ever before, protecting their bottom line.”
