Smithfield Foods, Inc. said today that the company's facilities across the United States received a total of 62 awards for their environmental and worker safety efforts from the American Meat Institute (AMI) Foundation.
The awards were announced during AMI's annual conference on Worker Safety, Human Resources and the Environment on March 14 in Kansas City, Mo.
"We're very proud that so many of our companies received these awards because it underscores our companywide commitment to reducing our environmental footprint in our communities and enhancing workplace safety for our employees," said Dennis H. Treacy, executive vice president and chief sustainability officer.
