Following a collaborative work between ADEME, EVEA and METEX ANIMAL NUTRITION, the new version of Agribalyse 3.1 integrates country specific amino acids Life Cycle Assessment data.
Agribalyse is a referent LCA database on agricultural and food products and this updated version allows a new step of accuracy in the LCA calculation of the industry.
The amino acids Life Cycle Assessment data are documented according to the type of amino acids, and their country of production and shows significant differences. Indeed, the French production appears as “low carbon”, as the CO2 emitted per units of amino acids produced is divided by 3 to 4 compared to other country producers (Indonesia, U.S, South Korea, China). In modern pigs and poultry diets, those differences have an impact down to the kg of animal produced!
Those innovative data represent a new leverage in the optimization of the environmental impact of animal production and highlight the value of a European based production.
The study that generated the results is fully compliant with the official quality norms and required methodological guidelines and has been awarded by an Innov’Space in 2022.
