The results speak for themselves: during the three days of the exhibition multi-million Euro contracts have been signed, showing the increased interest in the sector by farms, municipalities and the food industry.
The 22 technical workshops organized by the exhibitors were a major proof of this growing attention. The meetings offered an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and facilities of the bioenergy production business as well as registering a record attendance: there were notebooks full of notes and no seats available.
“The great added value of Bioenergy Italy - said Antonio Piva, president of CremonaFiere - was to create an important meeting opportunity between producers of equipment, technologies and services and an interested and highly qualified audience. We involved farms, municipalities, the bioenergy industry, project managers, draftsmen and construction companies…it is time to realize that the bioenergy production sector can involve many different business realities. We reached our goal in creating a real and effective point of reference for professional knowledge sharing, an economic and cultural driving force for the sector”.
The calendar of conferences and seminars was actually welcomed with great interest. Nine national and international events about the hottest topics of the sector: from the use of food industry by-products as “fuel” for biogas plants to sustainable energy production, poplar cultivation and alternative fuels. The leading event was the Third World Corn Day which hosted experts from Argentina, USA, Egypt and China who shared views on current market trends.
Another important boost for the sector was the Best Practices Bioenergy Italy Award, organized in cooperation with Legambiente to promote the best Italian facilities for bioenergy production.
“Since 2008, the Italian bioenergy market has experienced a rapid positive growth” said Bernd Koch director general of DLG International. “It is a fast growing market characterized by important investments and comparable to the German market in 2004. For this reasons, an event such as Bionergy Italy is fundamental to acquire know-how and expertise. From this very first exhibition, we hosted companies from 7 different countries and 12,051 professional visitors. This was the first important step to turn Bionergy Italy into a reference event for the whole Mediterranean Area also due to the general development of the sector in these countries”.
