WVA and Ceva continue their commitment to promote ever better international standards of animal welfare by organizing the 4th Global Animal Welfare Awards. The aim of the AW Awards is to recognize persons and entities who are contributing in their daily lives to the protection and welfare of animals and have provided outstanding and exemplary welfare-related services to animals, animal owners, and the public.

Following the successful deliverance of the WVA Animal Welfare Awards 2017, 2018 and 2019 projects, WVA and Ceva Sante Animale decided to add to the awards for veterinarians and veterinary students, new categories for veterinary technician/nurse and veterinary school/college to recognize their involvement and engagement in animal welfare.

Veterinarians are not only essential for the treatment and prevention of animal diseases but play a crucial role in protecting and improving the welfare of animals. Veterinarians have the potential to be global leaders advocating for high standards of animal welfare, but they must be provided with appropriate education and training in animal welfare to become competent in this area.

To support the development of veterinary student training and education in animal welfare, the WVA and Ceva will recognize a veterinary school or college that demonstrates a commitment to excellence in animal welfare education within the veterinary student curriculum.

The WVA Animal Welfare Awards will be presented to the 6 selected champions in animal welfare at the opening ceremony of the 36th World Veterinary Association Congress on 6th April 2020 in Auckland, New Zealand (click here for the teaser video) where the selected winners will be invited to receive the WVA Animal Welfare Award and a monetary prize of 5.000 Euros.
