Choice Genetics China will be based in Hexian County (Ma AnShan – Anhui Province). The company’s mission is twofold: the implementation and management of an R&D center consisting of a 1,500 sow farm with pure line stock. Secondly, the sales and marketing of Choice Genetics breeding stock in the PRC.

The Choice Genetics China team of 35 people will be headed by General Manager, Mr. Gu Yaping.

Choice Genetics’ increased commitment to the Chinese market comes after Groupe Grimaud and Ningbo Tech-Bank entered into a strategic partnership in pig genetics late 2014. Under that partnership, Ningbo Tech-Bank – through its subsidiary, Hanswine – and Groupe Grimaud subscribed a substantial capital increase in Choice Genetics SAS, making Hanswine a strategic shareholder in the global pig genetics company, of which Groupe Grimaud remains the majority shareholder.

“This is another important step for Choice Genetics which illustrates the support of our shareholders for the global ambitions of our company,” commented Pieter Seghers – CEO of Choice Genetics.

“CG China is the first foreign pig genetics company to establish an R&D center in China with full deployment of the latest technologies and selection tools. This will enable us to develop lines and products specifically adapted for the Chinese market,” added Gu Yaping.
