DLG (the Germany Agricultural Society) today announced that it has entered into a partnership with 2LM (2LM Corporate Oy), to jointly organise the exhibition Konekilleri, a new annual livestock technology exhibition located in Finland. The partnership will benefit livestock farmers in Finland as well as neighbouring countries, delivering practical international livestock knowledge and technical solutions directly to farmers in one central spot. Taking place 8th – 10th October, 2020 in Jyväskylä in the heart of Finland’s livestock and forestry region, Konekilleri is expecting to gather the majority of the active dairy and cattle farmers for the event.
“We are very pleased to be working together with 2LM to organize the first Konekilleri exhibition. This partnership will support the common aim of both organisations which is to equip farmers with solutions that will help them farm both efficiently and sustainably. With DLG’s wide international network and experience in both international exhibitions and knowledge-sharing, we are confident that farmers located in this challenging region will benefit from this cooperation," said Lars Huf, Deputy Managing Director of DLG International GmbH.
The productivity of farms often has a direct link to applied technology among other factors. The livestock sector in Finland with its strength in animal health and animal welfare, clean production inputs and relative low use of antibiotics will benefit further from technical solutions that can strengthen the competitiveness farmers in Finland already enjoy.
“Farmers in Finland right now are looking to increase productivity through technical investments and appropriate input solutions that will support the farm long-term. The Konekilleri event offers farmers a convenient overview of products and services specifically tailored to the Finnish market. We are delighted to work with the DLG, drawing upon its extensive experience in livestock knowledge and events which allows us to improve the offering to Finnish farmers," said Henrik Kalliola, Founder of 2LM.
With over 47,000 farms and an arable area covering 2.7 mn hectares, the livestock sector in Finland comprises 7283 dairy farms, 1000 pig farms and nearly 400 poultry farms, including egg production. Finland’s farmers, in common with their Scandinavian neighbors are well known for running modern, efficient livestock operations with high levels of animal welfare, and they are keen to find out about the latest trends and techniques in livestock practices.
