Zinpro Corporation recently hosted its 4th Feet First® Swine Symposium in Minneapolis, where the world’s leading swine experts shared the latest insights and tools to help decrease lameness and boost animal health and productivity.
This year’s event featured speakers from five universities, multiple corporations, as well as members of the Feet First team. More than 100 participants from 12 countries attended the symposium to learn more about topics such as: gilt selection and development, hoof trimming economics, nutrition’s role in lameness prevention, Generational Nutrition® and epigenetics, as well as new information on claw lesions and lesion assessments.
“This was our strongest speaker line-up for this event yet, featuring educational sessions, hands-on wet lab workshops, and unique insights from throughout the value chain,” said Dr. Zach Rambo, Ph.D., swine research nutritionist, Zinpro Corporation. “It’s an exciting time for the industry. Since its introduction in 2008, the Feet First Program has focused on the identification and prevention of swine lameness. Led by an international team of industry experts, the program has concentrated on locomotion scoring, lesion identification, gilt development and management, reproductive implications, nutrition and other factors that may contribute to lameness.
