HyporThe great-grandparent (GGP) Landrace and Large White sows and Hypor Maxter and Hypor Magnus boar lines were imported to a nucleus/multiplication facility located south of Lima on April 7, 2017.

“This is fantastic news for both Hypor and for pork producers in Peru,” says Hypor Key Account Manager in Latin America Nelson Restrepo Echavarria. He explains that the shipment is part of Hypor’s strategy to expand in Latin America and to provide producers with quality genetics. Through this partnership, Huerta San Martin de Porres will branch off into the swine industry—Huerta San Martin is a subsidiary of poultry company Mills del Marques.

“Hypor has the technology, the support and the portfolio to help Huerta San Martin be successful in the market,” Restrepo says. “With this new partnership Hypor will contribute even more to the development of the Latin American swine industry by offering high quality products and innovative solutions. Hypor pigs are easy to manage, are feed efficient and very cost effective for the producer.

This is the second shipment to Peru from Hypor’s nucleus facility in Canada—a previous shipment was imported to Agropecuaria UPB.

“With these two shipments Hypor is consolidating its presence in Latin America,” Restrepo explains. Hypor currently has a strong presence in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico and has partners in Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and Guatemala and is expanding its reach to Brazil in 2017. “We look forward to partnering with new distributors throughout Latin America,” he says. “And to continue supporting American producers with our balanced product portfolio and technical solutions.”
