HIPRA PHILIPPINES INC. celebrated l its AMERVAC®PRRS DAY II with the theme “High Protection for High Productivity and High Profitability". The event was composed of interesting topics from HIPRA’S own foreign as well as local technical experts in pig diseases and production. The affair was held last March 26, 2010 held at Crown Plaza Hotel.
The session began with the Diagnostic Laboratory Manager of HIPRA DIAGNOS PHILIPPINES, Dra. Maria Immaculada Torres. She presented the current PRRSV Prevalence based on serological profiling from randomly selected pig farms in the Philippines. The second speaker was the Technical Services Manager for Swine of HIPRA PHILIPPINES, Dr. Michael Felipe Quilitis. He discussed an actual local case of a farm infected by the Highly Pathogenic PRRSV strain or the so called “Chinese-Like or Atypical PRRSV Strain”. That after vaccine intervention with AMERVAC®- PRRS (Hipra’s Live European PRRSV Vaccine), the disease was controlled giving improvement on Farrowing Rates, Pre-Weaning and Post-Weaning. The third speaker was the Technical Marketing Manager for Swine in South East Asia of HIPRA, Dr. Sergi Bruguera. He talked about effective actions to manage and control PRRSV in the farm. The last topic was given by the HIPRA DIAGNOS Manager, the Head of all Hipra Laboratories (DIAGNOS®) worldwide, an expert in App and Swine Influenza, an author and collaborator of several scientific papers, Dr. Jaime Maldonado. His topics were findings on the confirmation that AMERVAC®- PRRS has cross protection against the new Highly Pathogenic PRRSV strains in Asia. He showed the results of the experimental trail carried out at CReSA (Animal Health Research centre in The Veterinary Faculty in Barcelona with the collaboration of experts like Professor Enric Mateu and Professor Joaquim Segalés). Finally, after lunch three very well-known veterinary practitioners in Philippines namely, Dr. Zoilo Lapus, Dr. Renato Policarpio and Dr. Donnan Canoy gave their positive experiences with the use of AMERVAC®- PRRS Vaccine in each of the respective farms that they handle. Undoubtedly, with the enlightening and informative topics of HIPRA AMERVAC®- PRRS DAY II, the attendees were assured that PRRSV can be managed and controlled with proper pig husbandry, management and vaccination protocols with the use of AMERVAC®- PRRS giving pig farmers Strategic Swine Solutions giving HIGH PROTECTION for HIGH PRODUCTIVITY and HIGH PROFITABILITY.
