HKScanThe action is part of HKScan´s journey to establish a new footprint on the Chinese market with premium-category, value-added products such as sirloin and tenderloin, products the company has previously offered largely only in the Nordic region. HKScan is the first Finnish company to establish a presence in premium market niche in China.

HKScan and Qinglian Food signed an agreement on 26th February to launch joint venture in China. HKScan and Qinglian Food’s joint venture Nordic Lotus Food Co will commercialize, sell and market products on the Chinese market. The offering will consist of tender and tasty Rypsiporsas® (Omega-3 Pork) products.

“Finnish Rypsiporsas® (Omega-3 Pork) differentiates from the competition with superior quality and responsible production. The feedback from our Chinese customers has been really encouraging. As a world´s 4th biggest food exhibition, SIAL is an efficient place to increase our Asian customers´ knowledge about the Finnish professionality and high quality in food production and agricultural practicalities. Competition is fierce all around the world, and China is no exception – only the most competitive products make the cut,” says Jukka Nikkinen, head of HKScan exports.

The largest importers to China are Germany, Spain and USA.

In December 2017, the Chinese food authorities granted an export permit to HKScan’s Forssa plant, which is ISO 9001, 14001 and FSSC 22 000 certified. The unit already had export licenses for other markets including the USA and Russia.

The first air cargo delivery has already arrived in China from Forssa, Finland. Additionally, the first 25 000 kg shipment by sea is on the way to Tianjin Port and it will arrive by in June.
