Daniel Windhorst has been appointed key account manager for salmonella vaccines, swine and poultry, for IDT Biologika. Reporting direct to Jim Bigmore the company’s project manager for salmonella, Dr Windhorst’s role will be to promote IDT’s salmonella vaccines world-wide.
After gaining a degree in biochemistry at the University of Hannover, Daniel gained his PhD at that university’s medical school where he contributed to an EU project investigating the colonisation properties of different salmonella strains. This research included two internships in England — at the Institute of Animal Health, Compton, and the Sanger Institute, Cambridge, in addition to another at the Salmonella Reference Centre, Robert Koch Institute in Germany.
He then travelled widely as global technical support manager for foodborne zoonoses with an international vaccine company.
Married, with two children, he is based in Cuxhaven, northern Germany, where his hobbies include many outdoor activities such as running, skiing, canoeing, hiking and geocaching.
