On 20-21 November 2024, the Danish Agriculture & Food Council Pig Research Centre and SEGES Innovation will gather global experts in Copenhagen to discuss and share knowledge on sustainable feed practices and technologies in the global pig industry.
“We have an imperative agenda in the pig industry: We must make pig production more sustainable,” says Christian Fink Hansen, Sector Director for Agriculture & Food Council Pig Research Centre.
“The Pig Research Summit is crucial for learning about the latest pig research, networking with experts, and exploring innovations in sustainable pig and pig feed production,” says keynote speaker Dejan Miladinovic, Head of Center, Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
What attendees can look forward to:
28 oral presentations featuring speakers such as Jason Clay (WWF, Markets), Laura Nobel (Global Feed LCA Institute), Asbjørn Børsting, (The European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation), Søren Vogt (Food Folk, McDonald's), and Dejan Miladinovic (Norwegian University of Life Sciences).
Keynote speaker Jason Clay, Senior Vice President, Markets, WWF, will discuss ‘The Carbon Footprint of Meat,’ focusing on key issues affecting the livestock and feed industries, their impacts, and the areas of most concentrated growth. He will also address the challenges climate change poses to the global food system and how livestock can contribute to solutions.
“There are no silver bullets. Understanding how to think about solutions and where and how producers, and the industry more broadly, can scale solutions more quickly is critical,” says Jason.
Beyond insights, the event offers a unique networking platform, bringing together researchers, companies, and policymakers. This collaborative forum encourages open dialogue and fosters partnerships to drive positive change in pig farming towards a more sustainable future.
“We have carefully selected researchers who can present exciting findings and offer insights into Sustainable Pig Feed for the Future,” says Finn Udesen, Senior Specialist, SEGES Innovation, and member of the Research Committee.
This year’s Summit will provide attendees with insights into four key topics:
- How can we produce sustainable feed in future pig production?
- Improved nutrient utilisation in pig feed
- What are the sustainable pig feed protein sources in the future?
- Inventory methods and documentation
