Attendees at the 2010 Iowa Pork Regional Conferences learned about pig comfort, energy efficiency and producer profits, and now those same presentations are available to the public as streaming videos. Iowa State University (ISU) Extension swine program specialist Tom Miller said providing the videos allows for more people to see and hear the conference speakers.

“We know that not everyone is able to spend a day away from their operation or job, regardless of how much they might want to attend one of these conference locations,” Miller said. “So we decided to record the speakers at the Ainsworth site and provide links to those specific presentations from the Iowa Pork Industry Center (IPIC) Web site. This way the information is available whenever people have time to view them.”

All four of the presentations were recorded and are available online. Mike Brumm of Brumm Swine Consultancy Inc., spoke on common ventilation mistakes and how to conserve electricity; David Stineman of Consumer Energy talked about efficiency in farm energy usage and farm energy audits; and ISU Extension swine field specialist Terry Steinhart presented information and updates on a variety of topics ranging from PQAPlus® site assessments to market weights to molds and mycotoxins.

To see these videos, go to the IPIC presentations page at http://www.ipic.iastate.edu/presentations.html and search by presenter last name. This page is organized in alphabetical order by last name of presenters at various IPIC-related events with the most recent presentations listed first under each name.
