IPIC: Webinar on emergency disposal of hogs in light of slaughterhouse closures

An ISU extension webinar focused on potential options for emergency disposal of animal tissue is set for Wednesday, April 29 at 8 a.m. The program is sponsored by Iowa Pork Producers Association.

Topics are environmentally sound disposal options, how compost works, above-ground burial, carbon feedstocks (types and amounts), windrow construction (space requirements, design and layout), and windrow management and troubleshooting.

Presenters are extension educator Mark Hutchinson with the University of Maine; Gary Flory, agricultural program manager with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality; and Craig Williams, dairy team educator with Penn State Extension. You must preregister to receive viewing details. There will be a question and answer time.
