IPVS discusses pig industry challenges until 2050 on November 3rd

Virtual event launches the 26th edition of IPVS Congress, to be held in 2022 in Brazil, with Professor Peter Davies from the University of Minnesota.

The main challenges of the world pig production until 2050 will be discussed by Peter Davies, professor of the University of Minnesota (United States), in a world event held in digital format by the IPVS (International Pig Veterinary Society) on November 3rd , at 11 AM (GMT -03:00).

This event will mark the closing of the IPVS2020 preparation cycle, with the publication of the Proceedings, as well as the launching of the 26th edition of the IPVS Congress, which will be held from June 21 to 24, 2022, in Rio de Janeiro.

“Our aim is to gather specialists from the production chain and present the 2022 event”, said Fernanda Almeida, the IPVS president and professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. "This event is especially important due to the participation of Dr. Peter Davies, a world-renowned researcher, who will share with us a little of his vision about the future of pig production in the world. In addition, in respect to all the researchers who chose the IPVS2020 for the dissemination of the data obtained in recent years, we will make the official publication of the IPVS2020 Proceedings".

About Peter Davies

Dr. Peter Davies is a veterinarian epidemiologist, specialized in infectious diseases. He is a professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Minnesota in the United States, with extensive experience in veterinary practice. He has worked as an animal production consultant, participating in rural development projects, including in Brazil. In addition to research in swine health, Davies is specialized in the epidemiology of food-borne zoonotic pathogens.

The IPVS 2022

The world's most important event of the swine industry will be held for the second time in Brazil, after 34 years. The place chosen to host this event of such magnitude is Riocentro, one of the most complete event and convention centers in the country. Around three thousand participants are expected, from all over the world and the submission of around one thousand scientific papers. Besides an extraordinary scientific program, the event will have a huge business fair, where the latest technologies and novelties for the world's pig culture will be presented.
