After 30 hours of content, IPVS2022 closes its 26th edition with many innovations

Event offered updating and networking for participants from 55 countries.

Meeting point for professionals specializing in swine, IPVS2022, which took place between June 21 and 24, in RioCentro, Rio de Janeiro, ended its activities celebrating the success of the edition.

After a 30-hour marathon of technical content, 2127 delegates from 55 countries had access to the content of 49 speakers in 26 technical sessions, 120 oral presentations of scientific papers and 335 posters on display.

According to the president of the event, Fernanda Almeida, IPVS2022 received professional colleagues from five continents, eager to share and absorb knowledge. “Our speakers, carefully chosen, brightened the event and delivered the vanguard of technical and scientific knowledge of pig farming and our exhibitors gave a show of design and friendliness, showing the latest innovations and solutions for the sector”, praised Fernanda.

For the director of Institutional Relations of IPVS2022, Executive Director of Agriculture and Sustainability at JBS/Seara and President of Sindicarne, José Antônio Ribas, IPVS2022 showed that Brazil is integrated in all its concepts for the management of a swine farm that will meet the question that was widely debated in Rio de Janeiro: change in the relationship of people with food and food with the planet. “We were able to show that we are prepared for this transformation. IPVS2022 was a success in terms of audience, discussion, debates and approach and will be a historic mark for Brazilian swine farming”, he added.

Innovative platform

One of the innovations of this edition was the hybrid event. For the first time, the IPVS could be followed online and in a very realistic way thanks to the development of a 360º environment of RioCentro, in real size and characteristics. The partner booths were reproduced from physical to digital, enabling an immersive experience, connections, networking and taking IPVS2022 from Brazil to the world with a lot of technology and content.

Technical programming

On Friday morning, in addition to the lectures on the last day, oral presentations and poster sessions were held. The IPVS2022 program continued with four more lecture sessions that addressed clinical cases, immunology and vaccinology and food safety, with a focus on parasites.

Award winners

At the end of the event, the IPVS2022 winning scientific works and the four highlights were announced: Franciéli Adriane Molossi, with the work “PCV-3 associated disease in neonatal piglets in Brazil”; Jasmine Hattab with “Artificial Intelligence and Slaughtered Pigs: a promising affair”; Wei-Tao Chen with “Construction and Stable Expression of Mammalian Cell-based Secretory Classical Swine Fever Virus Envelope Glycoprotein E2 to Enhance Antigenicity and Performance of Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assays”; and Cipriano de Abreu with “Mycoplasma hyorhinis detection in dams and piglets during lactation”.

Germany 2024 and Bankgok 2026

The challenge is already launched. The next steps of IPVS already have date and places scheduled. The event will take place in Leipzig, Germany, in June 2024. As for the IPVS sequence, in 2026, the General Assembly indicated the city of Bangkok, Thailand as the congress venue.
