Litera Meat obtains license to export to South Korea

South Korea is now added to the list of more than 50 countries to where Litera Meat exports its products.

Litera Meat has been granted the authorisation to export pork meat products to South Korea, a potentially active country at the top of the ranking of countries which mostly import pork meat from the EU, only after China and Japan.

Thus, obtaining this license means attaining one of the most important goals to end 2020, enabling Litera Meat to broaden its commercial horizons and reinforce its brand within a continent that is key for the export of pork meat. This new license reinforces the quality and safety of Litera Meat’s various productive processes, as well as the Asian markets’ interest in the Company, where the Pini family —which has a long-lasting and remarkable track record within the pork meat industry— has key commercial agreements and a forward-looking approach with great potential. ‘Although it’s been a year full of challenges, we are very much satisfied with the growth and job of our entire teamwork. Litera Meat ends the 2020 fiscal year with very positive figures, with over 1,400 employees, more than 50 containers daily shipped to Asia, sales of over 250,000 tonnes of meat and a turnover that has already exceeded 500 million euros.

We minimise environmental impact

Reducing CO₂ emissions is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility plan and our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Such an essential activity as exporting in the food sector requires companies to incorporate into their internal policy actions promoting the reduction of the carbon footprint and this is why Litera Meat has opted for the use of more eco-friendly means of transport, progressively replacing road transport —considered the most contaminant— with transport by train. In tandem with our logistics operators, today we dispatch between 5 and 6 trains weekly from Monzón’s Intermodal Terminal, which translates into cutting the emission of contaminant gases by more than a half.
