Every year, the Leman Swine Conference, one of the most important international events for the pig production industry, gathers veterinarians, scientists, researchers, experts and leading producers in four days of lectures, technical sessions, presentations and round tables.
Magapor has taken part in this event for many years, presenting its latest advances and research lines in its commitment to the transfer and spread of experience and know-how.
In this edition, the veterinary consultant of the firm, Juan Luis Úbeda, travelled to Minnesota with a lecture on “Toxic compounds in plastic. Implications for reproductive development” , which could be heard on September 16. Backed by Raquel Ausejo, Technical Manager of Magapor, and Juan Yeregui, Area Salesman for America, the lecture followed the communication line opened last June to inform about a recent discovery. It reviewed the results of a research which proves the repro-toxic effects of some substances contained in the plastic material used to package commercial semen doses, which are considered NIAs –Non Intentionally Added Substances- and migrate to the content of the package, acting by direct contact.
The research carried out led to the demonstration and publishing of the toxicity of some substances found in plastic materials, which should cause an increase in food safety for consumers.
