Claimed to allow large numbers of pigs to eat placidly, without wasting feed, the feeders offer a range of options. This versatility enables pigs to choose between eating dry feed from an upper tray or feed mixed with water in a lower trough. The height of the feed tray can be changed to cater for pigs of different sizes.
An internal mechanism is used to regulate feed flow very precisely while a valve can be installed to maintain a constant level of water in one feeding space while the other two can offer the wet-and-and-dry facility.
The feeders are double-sided, so can be installed between adjacent pens, providing for 60-72 pigs without water or 84-96 pigs with water feeding from both sides and utilising all six feeding spaces.
Measuring 1.2 m wide x 1 m long x 0.56 m wide and made from a combination of stainless steel and plastic by Spanish equipment company Rotecna, the feeders cost from £440 for the fattening model, and from £520 for the wean-to-finish version.
