Nominations are being sought for a new award that recognizes veterinarians making significant contributions to swine medicine. The 10 under 40 awards, sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health, will recognize ten swine veterinarians under the age of 40.

"This program recognizes the success and dedication of young veterinarians who demonstrate leadership qualities both within the swine veterinary community and their community at large," says Steve Sornsen, DVM, MS, senior director, veterinary operations at Pfizer Animal Health.

The 10 under 40 awards program is one of many efforts Pfizer Animal Health is undertaking as part of its Commitment to Veterinarians.

Sornsen adds: "We're dedicated to supporting veterinarians through industry-leading training and education, research and development efforts to offer new animal health solutions, and by investing and supporting the future of the profession with programs such as this."

Anyone can submit a nomination. The award is open to AASV veterinarians under 40 years of age, residing in the United States, in practice, academic or consulting capacities. Nominees must devote a minimum of 60 percent of their time to swine medicine.

Winners will be selected by an independent panel and will receive a trip to the Allen D. Leman Swine Conference in St. Paul, Minn. on Sept. 17-20, 2011. They will be introduced during the opening reception and featured in communications about the program.

Nominations can be submitted online at www.PfizerPork.com/C2V. They must be received prior to April 30, 2011.
