Moscow, Russia – February 13, 2009 – Cherkizovo OJSC, one of Russia’s leading integrated and diversified meat producers, launches a new range of products for active people.

Following initial marketing and trial sales Cherkizovo launches Akti Meat, a new line of delicatessen products made of chicken meat. The Akti range has been launched in response to growing demand from Russian consumers for health orientated meat products.

Cherkizovo already produces some of Russia’s best known food brands, but the new range reflects Cherkizovo’s investment in product innovation, aimed at increasingly lifestyle-focused Russian consumers. Cherkizovo expects demand for high-protein, low-fat meat products to continue growing, as an increasing number of Russians switch to healthier, more active lifestyles.

The Akti range includes the traditional ready-to-cook sausage products, as well as premium semi-smoked and smoked products made from high-protein chicken meat, which is rich in essential minerals and vitamins. All products use packaging that preserves freshness and natural qualities of the product, with enhanced visibility on the store shelves. The products from the new line will be mainly distributed in Moscow and the Moscow region, Saint-Petersburg and Central Russia.

The new range is a natural step for Cherkizovo, positioning the company to take advantage of the expected increase in demand for healthier meat products.

In our meat-processing segment we continue to build on our strategy of innovation and setting the market trends. Going forward, we intend to continue offering top-line products to our consumers”, – commented Sergei Mikhailov, CEO of Cherkizovo Group.
