Following business expansion, Staffordshire-based specialist pig-housing manufacturer, ARM Buildings Ltd, has doubled the size of its planning office and taken on extra staff at its headquarters in Rugeley.

“Obtaining planning permission has become more complex in recent years,” says Andrew Brittain, the company’s operations director. “Most farmers appreciate professional help in this area which, apart from the building itself, may well involve transport, landscaping, tree-planting schemes and other environmental considerations.”

The planning office extension is being shared with ARM’s joint-venture company, EnviTec Biogas Ltd, which designs and builds ‘turn-key’ energy-producing anaerobic digestion plants for agriculture and other industries. This is a growth area which also needs complex plans and technical backup.

ARM provides a comprehensive design and planning service as part of the ‘hand-holding’ package it offers to farmers and, where appropriate, will with the customer’s own planning consultants and architects.
