Simultaneously with its progress in internationalization, Semen Cardona consolidates its growth in the Spanish market thanks to a new high-performance artificial insemination center (AIC) located 40 km from Segovia, in an extremely isolated rural area of livestock farms. The center will house 300 boars distributed in three totally independent and isolated units, with last generation high-level biosecurity measures: filtered air, 100% free of bacteria and free of viruses such as PRRS. As an operating room would provide.
The new center will use an infrastructure started a decade ago by one of the main industries of the Segovian sector, which aborted the construction. Semen Cardona recently acquired this property and will shortly begin the works of what is intended to be one of the most advanced AIC in Spain, providing the highest biosecurity measures. At the same time, the new facilities will guarantee a wide range of best services in the Castilla y León region, where Semen Cardona is experiencing unprecedented growth.
As a matter of fact, Semen Cardona announced last week an agreement with Prosepor for the integral management of another center in the province of Segovia, this one smaller and already in operation in Mozoncillo, 30 kilometers from Segovia. This center, with 50 boars, will be refurbished and restructured after the launching of the new AIC facilities for 300 boars.
The new AIC in Segovia will start its activities at the end of summer and will be fully operational in the autumn of this year. It will begin to operate in collaboration with another of the biggest Semen Cardona’s high-performance genetic centers: the one located in Tarazona (Zaragoza), which also accommodates 300 boars. Meanwhile, the company reaffirms itself as a leader in internationalization, with its Mexican AIC operating at full capacity and the good pace at which the works are progressing in its center in the Philippines.
