Stonehaven Consulting has appointed another highly experienced life sciences professional as part of the on-going strengthening of its global team.
Peter McCarthy, who takes up the position of “Practice Leader Commercial & Strategy” is an accomplished global business unit CEO with more than 35 years’ experience in human and animal health at companies including Wyeth, Schering-Plough, Schering-Plough Animal Health and the Henry Schein Animal Health Group.
“Peter has a proven track record of rapidly building market value through growth, pipeline development and operational excellence,” said Stonehaven Consulting Partner, George Gunn.
“He has used his experience in human pharma to approach animal health business from new perspectives, and thus develop unique and effective solutions. He is perfectly aligned with the Stonehaven vision.”
From 2015 to 2019 Mr McCarthy was President of Henry Schein’s Global Animal Health Group, a $4 billion revenue operation serving over 100,000 customers across 24 countries in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
Prior to joining Henry Schein, Mr McCarthy worked at Schering-Plough Animal Health (now Merck Animal Health), serving as Senior Director, Global Operations and General Manager, China. He also worked at Wyeth/American Cyanamid for 14 years, helping to grow the human pharmaceutical business.
The new appointment is part of an on-going expansion of Stonehaven Consulting, said Matthias Hofer, Managing Partner of Stonehaven Consulting.

Mr McCarthy holds a degree in Applied Biology, has served as a Member of the Board of the International Federation for Animal Health Europe, and the International Association Executive Animal Health Study Center, CEESA, based in Belgium. He is also a graduate and member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in the UK.
