Four days with difficult challenges from real life. This is what awaits participants in this new competition – the Agromek Student Challenge – which will take place in November during the Agromek 2018 exhibition.
This new innovation competition is earmarked for selected domestic and foreign students. In teams of five students, they will engage themselves in various business cases, which will be presented by companies from among the many exhibitors at Agromek.
Throughout the four day exhibition, the student teams will work intensively to develop new business models and prepare keen ideas and concepts in order to discover the right solutions for the case companies.
The results will be judged by an international jury consisting of academics and industrial leaders. The winning team will be presented on Friday 30th November.
Agromek’s Director, Claus Hermansen, has stated, “The purpose of the Agromek Student Challenge is to combine business and knowhow environments in a new manner for the benefit of both the students and the exhibitors. The students are given the opportunity to present their competence levels for leading companies and to test both themselves and their knowhow. At the same time, the companies will attain proposals for solving their professional cases.”
The students will be chosen by the recruitment company, Foodjob Nordic, via a special selection process. This will ensure that the individual teams will be composed with competence areas that correspond to the specific business cases.
The participants will originate from Danish and foreign universities and educational institutes.
One of the exhibiting companies that present a challenge case to the students is Skov A/S.
Development manager, Soeren Smedegaard, Skov A/S says: “We feel that this is a truly exciting initiative.”
“There are two main reasons for our decision to participate. First of all, we recognize the opportunity to gain a team of competent students to work with concrete problems and to develop our products. Secondly, we perceive this initiative as a type of show window through which we have the opportunity to contact the students and to perhaps gain common advantages in the form of later employment or cooperation.”
Soeren Smedegaard also found that it was natural for Skov A/S, which is one of the leading companies within the field of indoor climate solutions for poultry and pig farming, to participate in this initiative.
He continued: “We are convinced that this is a super initiative with full professionalism due to the fact that comparative Student Challenge arrangements have been effectuated in other connections with great success.”
In addition to Skov A/S, there are several other companies which will participate with business cases. These include Seges, Jema A/S and Hardi.
Agromek 2018 will be held during the period from Tuesday 27th to Friday 30th November 2018 in the MCH Exhibition Centre at Herning in Denmark.
