Strengthening the partnership between SARIA, Teeuwissen and Bioibérica – SARIA acquires majority stake

The shareholders of the respective groups yesterday signed contracts for the SARIA Group’s acquisition of a majority stake in Teeuwissen and Bioibérica.

saria.gifTeeuwissen’s current shareholders will have senior management roles within the group. Jalal Laham, President and CEO of the Teeuwissen Group, will remain closely involved with the company as a consultant and member of the Bioibérica board. Following completion of the transaction, Teeuwissen’s new Executive Board will be made up of the following members: Kurt Stoffel (CEO), Christian Stehmann (COO), Robert Wind, Fernando Ruiz Catena and Jan Claassen.

The partnership between the Teeuwissen Group and the SARIA Group began in 2009. In February 2010, SARIA acquired 25% of the shares in Teeuwissen, followed by a further 25% in September 2011 when SARIA together with the other Teeuwissen shareholders acquired a 90% stake in Bioibérica.

When signing the agreement, the respective managing directors highlighted the benefits of expanding the partnership. “The existing close collaboration between the three companies will be boosted further by taking this step,” said Kurt Stoffel, Chairman of the Executive Board of the SARIA Group, at the signing of the contracts. “Together with our partners Teeuwissen and Bioibérica, we are confident that suppliers, customers and our operational units in all areas relating to processing animal by-products will benefit from greater opportunities to share knowledge and experience.” Jalal Laham, President of the Teeuwissen Group, stressed the value of this step for the future development of the group he did so much to shape. “This is a very special day for me and my partners, with whom I developed and expanded the Teeuwissen Group over many years. After extensive discussions about the merger, we are convinced that integrating Teeuwissen and Bioibérica into the SARIA Group represents an excellent opportunity to continue developing our areas of business in the future. It will enable SARIA, Teeuwissen and Bioibérica to create even more synergy and successfully expand the breadth and quality of their products and services.”

Headquartered in Selm, Germany, SARIA (www.saria.com) is an international manufacturer of quality goods for human consumption, animal nutrition, agriculture, aquaculture and industrial applications. The company focuses on producing high-quality proteins and fats from animal by-products.
