The third edition of the ADISSEO Research Grant has awarded three winners. The scientific committee, composed of academics and representatives of the animal production industry, as well as technical and scientific ADISSEO experts, was impressed by the quality and relevance of those three projects, which will share a total of 1 million euros over the next three years.

This year research projects were evaluated based on their contribution to addressing global challenges such as climate change and/or applying the One Health concept in animal production. The projects focused on poultry and swine, with a particular emphasis on swine this year.

No less than 50 high-quality proposals were received and were then carefully assessed by the International Scientific Committee.

The three selected winners are:

1. FEAST-PIG: Further Exploration of Appetite Signals for Optimized Feed Intake in Pigs

This collaborative research project involves KU Leuven (Belgium), UNIBO (Italy), and ILVO (Belgium) and is led by Prof. Nadia Everaert from KU Leuven.

2. Precision Feeding Models for Sustainable Swine Production: Evaluating Energy Requirements and Environmental Impacts on Gestating Sows

This collaborative project involves the University of Missouri (USA), Purdue University (USA), University of Melbourne (Australia), Universidade Federal de Viçosa (Brazil), AMVC Nutritional Services (USA), Pig Improvement Company (United Kingdom), and Smithfield Premium Genetics (USA). The main coordinator is Dr. Jay Johnson from the University of Missouri.

3. Continuous Monitoring of Protein Efficiency for Smarter Protein Nutrition in Weaned Piglets

This collaborative project involves Ghent University (Belgium) and Agroscope – Posieux Research Institution (Switzerland). The main coordinator is Prof. Jeroen Degroote from Ghent University.

Estelle Devillard, Scientific Director for Nutrition and Health at Adisseo, explains the value of this grant: “The Adisseo Research Grants represent a unique way of driving innovation by funding cutting-edge projects that tackle global challenges like climate change and enhance animal production. They foster international collaboration and empower researchers to develop sustainable, impactful solutions for the future”.

The previous two editions already produced research outcomes that continue to be shared with the scientific committee and the scientific and technical community via publications & communications at conferences.
