VION Food Group takes over food grade fat producer LARU

On May 10 2011, VION has acquired the German company LARU (Langensiepen und Ruckebier), based in Bottrop.

LARU focuses on processing, refinement and packaging of pork and goose fat and vegetable fats and oils. Their products are marketed under the brand name LARU.

With this acquisition, VION strengthens its position in the market for packaged, melted fats.

The LARU product portfolio also offers new opportunities for better valorisation of food-grade animal fat.

LARU will become part of VION’s core acitivity VION Ingredients. The business and brand name LARU will continue to be used. LARU employs 40 people.
