During Ildex Vietnam 2012 visitors will greatly benefit from a special conference on ‘Quality in piglet feed’. This particular event during the exhibition is developed in close co-operation between De Heus Group, a Dutch company with a leading global position in the animal feed industry, and the organizers of VIV Asia, the international platform on animal production and meat processing in Bangkok, Thailand. Ildex Vietnam is scheduled between March 22-24, 2012 at the New Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition is focusing on the animal feed industry market. The conference takes place on 23 March.

The conference on ‘Quality in piglet feed’ takes place in the morning of the second day of the show. To ensure top quality piglet feed, De Heus has a very extensive quality program of which the most important points will be described in the presentation. The second half of the seminar will be about the management around weaning time focusing on what one can do to make the most difficult time of a pig more easy and on practical advises about before, around and after weaning to get better results. Strong growth expected
There are 240 animal feed factories in Vietnam with a combined capacity of around 10 million tons a year. In the first half of 2010, these factories produced 4.9 tons of animal feed. Commercial feed market has been growing strongly, enjoying a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 16% between 2005 and 2009, and strong growth is expected to continue in the coming years. Due to the rapid growth of the breeding industry, the animal feed sector had experienced a 15 to 17% expansion of its own, which has led to raw material resources not being able to meet local demand. By 2020, Vietnam is expected to need around 15 million tons of animal feed a year to placate domestic demand.
45 countries
De Heus has its roots in the Netherlands and was founded in 1911. Since then it has expanded from a regional feed company to a feed conglomerate with activities in more than 45 countries on four continents. Due to the rapid growth outside the Netherlands De Heus is a global top-20 feed supplier. The company is present with local production in nine countries and trading in Vietnam since the end of 2008 under the name De Heus LLC Vietnam.
In its production facilities De Heus produces more than 3 million metric tons of feed (2010). Currently 11 of the 27 feed plants are located in the Netherlands. The company is producing animal feed in accordance with the directives of the GMP+ quality system. After three and a half years in Vietnam it operates two animal feed factories in Binh Duong and Hai Phong, one aqua feed factory in Vinh Long and the brand new factory in Dong Nai. The company is growing very fast and hopes to be in the top ten biggest animal feed companies in Vietnam by 2013.
