The winner of the International Poultry Production - VIV Asia Poultry Personality Award is Gordon Butland. He has lived in Thailand for many years but started his career in Europe and South America as a financial advisor. He later specialised in poultry matters. In recent years, he has advised many, if not most, of the major poultry companies in the region. He has spoken regularly on financial matters and has the knack of making the complexities of the financial world understandable.
The International Pig Topics - VIV Asia Pig Personality Award went to Dr Orapin Sukpiriyagul. She is a nutritionist who, over the years, has been the backbone of one of Thailand's leading agribusinesses, Betagro. As well as being forward thinking and keeping her company to the fore in the pig nutrition field, Dr Orapin has always had time to help colleagues and mentor junior colleagues. A veterinarian, she is an ambassador for her company, for pig nutrition and for her country.
The International Hatchery Practice - VIV Asia Poultry Breeder Personality Award was won by Mr Prajit Udnoon. He graduated in animal husbandry from Chiang Mai University and rose through the poultry ranks at Charoen Pokphand (CP) to become one of that company's Executive Vice Presidents. He has been active in various Thai associations over the years, and has always found find to share his knowledge and experience with others. Mr Udnoon has spoken at numerous meetings and written in many journals. He was known for some time as 'Mr Cool' because of his role in bringing evaporative cooling into thai poultry production. He has always had a special interest in breeders.
The awards were made jointly by Nigel Horrox of Positive Action and Ruwan Bercolo of VNU, one of the organisers of the VIV Asia show.
