VIV Asia 2011, Asia’s largest livestock technology showcase, opens its door to welcome thousands of ‘Feed to Meat’-professionals from Asia and around the world during 9-11 March at BITEC, Bangkok, Thailand.

The show opens in high note. Total exhibitors hit a record high with 700 companies from 45 countries showcasing the latest livestock technology and business solutions to Asia’s fast-growing livestock industries.

At the Opening Ceremony of the 10th edition of VIV Asia, Mr. Rirksmai Sukhum, President of N.C.C Exhibition Organizer Co., Ltd., said in his welcoming speech: “one of the most noticeable developments of the Asian livestock industries over the past two decades has been the rapid industrialization of livestock production. I believe that VIV Asia has grown in a similar fashion. From a humble beginning, VIV Asia 2011 has become the largest technology platform for the Asia-Pacific livestock industries, following the renowned ‘Feed to Meat’ concept.”

VIV Asia 2011, Asia’s largest livestock technology show, which is the 10th edition, is the largest show in VIV Asia’s 20-year history.”

The 10th edition
“When VIV Asia was first launched in 1993, one of its objectives was to introduce advanced animal production and processing technology to Asia. In its 10th edition or twenty years later, ‘technology’ remains and will always be the highlight of the show. In the current situation, technology and innovation form undoubtedly the key to success for the industry,” added Mr. Gerard Leeuwenburgh, Director International Exhibitions at VNU Exhibitions Europe, the organizer of VIV events worldwide.

The fact that number of exhibitors has increased more than 20% in 2011 clearly indicates that all eyes are looking at Asia as the region of growth. In not many years from now, it is very likely that Asia will be the main production base for global livestock products,” concluded Mr. Leeuwenburgh.

Addressing the international audience at the VIV Asia 2011 Opening Ceremony, Mr. Teera Wongsamut, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, said: “the Thai government realizes the importance of technology which has been a key success factor in transforming Thailand from backyard farming to industrialized farming, especially for the poultry industry where Thailand ranks among the world’s Top-10 of chicken meat exporters”.

However in the age of globalization, no country grows alone. The minister commented: “since this event is a gathering of countries worldwide, I would encourage all participants to explore the opportunities for collaboration between the public and private sector to bring the Asian livestock industries to the next level. We will grow stronger as a group.”

Special themes
In addition to a variety of livestock technologies, VNU Exhibitions Europe and its partner NEO, have launched 2 brand new technology zones to strengthen VIV Asia’s ‘Feed to Meat’ concept. Number 1 is Feedtech-Croptech Asia 2011, focusing on milling equipment and organized in co-operation with WATT Publishing. Number 2 involves the co-operation between VIV and Positive Action Publication’s International Food Hygiene for LAB@VIV Asia 2011, focusing on technology and services for feed and food safety testing.

ChinaVisions
To add a new dimension to its role of preferred match-making partner, VIV joined forces with eFeedlink in establishing ChinaVisions. 50 VIPs representing China’s major livestock production regions will meet with 250 international Decision-Makers during this special Conference cum Trade Dinner on Wednesday March 9 at BITEC. Renowned speakers from the China Animal Agriculture Association (CAAA) and eFeedlink’s China Research Centre will present their visions on the future opportunities for the Chinese feed and livestock sectors.

BioEnergy Asia 2011
Nowadays crops are not only the basis for feed and food production, they are also used for a rising number of other applications. Due to the rapidly expanding global population, increasing wealth and production, raw materials in general are scarce and demand is booming, particularly for crops. These developments need to be matched by higher productivity in agriculture and a far more efficient and diversified use of the crop itself. For this reason the first BioEnergy Asia 2011 Conference will be organized. This top-notch event, dedicated to the latest developments and perspectives in Asia regarding bioenergy in the palm oil, rice, sugar cane, tapioca, ethanol and animal protein sectors will be held on March 9 at VIV Asia 2011.

The organizers estimated that investments during the 3-day show reach a record high, as most leading livestock producers are using VIV Asia as their basis for business discussion before proceeding to make any major investments. As for Thailand, the show is likely to generate 26.5 million dollars (US) to its MICE industry.

Further, according to Mrs. Supawan Teerarat, Director of Exhibitions Department, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), "we are very delighted to join 'VIV Asia 2011' and are willing toembrace our full supports and render to NEO for VIV Asia 2011 promotion. Being one of the shows under TCEB's Better the Best campaign, effective marketing strategies have been developed to lift up and increase its competency VIV Asia 2011 as The Champion of the region.

"Thailand is the ASEAN's centric and the perfect business platform for MICE industry. It is a place where opportunities lie everywhere and are within your reach. TCEB, as the government agency under the supervision of Prime Minister Office, is working dedicatedly to promote the country by hands on all possible supports to the organizers who would like to organize the events in Thailand. As we truly believe that the exhibitions held in Thailand will be executed successfully. This year, Thailand's MICE industry is expected to attract half a million business travelers, with project revenues of between 45 billion THB and Thailand has an impressive record of growth as an exhibition capital, and in 2011 we expect the sector to grow by up to 15%," leaves Mrs. Teerarat.
