WelFarmers: Our dedication stands in respecting pigs

The WelFarmers Project is a collaborative initiative aimed at improving the welfare of pigs within the European Union. Funded by the Horizon Europe Program, WelFarmers will set up eight national innovation networks from eight different countries and will put together pig farmers, advisors, veterinarians, and researchers to address the challenges of the upcoming change in the European pig welfare legislation.

In this webinar we want to introduce you to WelFarmers and to encourage you to join us in this project where we are working in four thematic groups to identify and evaluated the best practices in four key pig welfare topics:

  • Ban of cages
  • Pigs with undocked tails
  • Avoiding pain in castration
  • Space allowance and flooring

Last and not the least, these best practices will be shared, so the practices could be implemented at many more pig farms improving the pig’s welfare.
