Hexa-Cover®

The patented Hexa-Cover^® system is an excellent solution for covering all types of liquids. Since its launch in 2004, industries, farmers, irrigators, water companies, public agencies, private companies, and many more have chosen Hexa-Cover® in recent years. Hexa-Cover® is the ideal solution for controlling odors, emissions, evaporation, algae growth, heat loss, or scaring away birds. />

Hexa-Cover^® is currently used in all types of ponds, reservoirs, tanks, or tanks, with the following applications:

• Wastewater
• Supply water, irrigation, and water reserves
• Agriculture and livestock (slurry, biogas, irrigation, water tanks)
• Waste (leachate ponds)
• Chemical products

The fundamental idea behind Hexa-Cover^® and what makes it unique and exceptional is that it is constructed as a six-sided plate with symmetrical ribs or plates on each side. Symmetrical ribs or plates ensure:

• No stacking
• No overlapping over time
• Automatic, rapid, and even distribution over the liquid surface

Furthermore, Hexa-Cover^® has specially designed edges that snap together. This design allows it to adjust, under the action of the wind or by its own inertia, to automatically form a continuous cover.

Hexa-Cover^® is Made of high-quality, long-lasting polypropylene, UV-resistant, and with a relative density of 0.5 kg/l.

For ponds and tanks, shipped in 1 m x 1.3 m x 2.5 m Big bags of 275 kg (R114) or 265 kg (R90).

Before installation, it is recommended to pay special attention to the presence of moving elements (pumps, agitators, etc.) and the diameter of the outlets, filters, and hoses, to ensure that no element of the cover can enter the interior in the event of emptying or a decrease in the level of the liquid stored in the installation.
Hexa-Cover^® is marketed in 2 R90 and R114 formats depending on the desired application and the characteristics of the pond and liquid to be covered.

Application in Agriculture and Livestock

Hexa-Cover^® R114 is an ideal solution for covering slurry ponds and preventing the generation of odors and ammonia emissions. Hexa-Cover^® R90 is also applicable in water ponds for farm supply, irrigation, or water reserves, as it will prevent algae growth of up to 99% and evaporation of up to 95%.

For the application of Hexa-Cover^®  in slurry ponds, the slurry must be liquid. Otherwise, it must be agitated prior to installation to ensure the surface is as liquid as possible.

MTD num. 16 according to Decision 2017_32

Hexa-cover^® is one of the different Best Available Techniques (BAT’s) included in Decision (EU) 2017/302 on intensive pig farming.

Specifically, BAT 16 includes geometric plastic sheets as a technique to reduce ammonia emissions into the atmosphere from storage and a slurry pond.
According to these BAT’s, the hexagonal floating plastic sheets are distributed automatically spread over the surface of the slurry, covering up to 95% of the surface.

In the 2017 BREFs used to develop BAT, geometric plastic sheets are awarded the following NH₃ emission reductions:

• According to 2010 data from Denmark, 80% (50% - 95%)
• According to Fleming R., 2006, 95%

Trials carried out by the German Agricultural Society with pig slurry and Hexa-cover^® showed an odor reduction efficiency of over 80% and an ammonia emission elimination rate of between 96% and 98%.
