On Tuesday May 6th, on occasion of the sixth European Symposium of Porcine Health Management (ESPHM), HIPRA organised a pre-congress event entitled "2030. Imagining the future of sows”, which was attended by more than 160 porcine specialists from all over the world.
The event, which was highly original, began with an audiovisual screening that showed the evolution of pig breeding in the last few years. Subsequently, John Carr, Guy-Pierre Martineau, Heindrick Nienhoff, Joaquim Segalés and Carlo Lasagna, who acted as the moderator, discussed the keys to porcine production.
The topics that most attracted the audience’s attention were the future of PRRS in Europe, the appearance of new syndromes, the return of old diseases and the prevention, control and diagnostic strategies to be developed in the near future. The event took place in "Villa Angelina" in Sorrento, where guests had magnificent views of the Bay of Naples, Mount Vesuvius and the island of Capri.
Through this initiative, HIPRA reinforced its commitment to international prevention in swine health.
