“Yolanda and Ben will focus on delivering international sales and ensuring pig producers in China and Europe have access to leading UK genetics,” comments Paul Anderson JSR’s International Sales Director. “Two appointments of this quality show that JSR are keen to further build and maintain long term international relationships.”

“To help develop JSR’s international presence in this new role is a great opportunity and challenge,” says Ben Rawson, who joins JSR from Rythergate UK, where as Account Manager he helped expand the transformer monitoring business into Europe and the rapidly developing Asian and Indian markets.

“At JSR, my key responsibility is in Europe as I will look to create new opportunities to grow JSR’s business. This is an exciting time to be working in a role such as this, as emerging markets, in Eastern Europe specifically, look to establish robust breeding programmes and incorporate advancements in new science and technology.

“A key part of my role will be to ensure our European partners receive the technical support and back up to ensure optimum on farm genetic performance. I also hope to use my broad international experience to help create new opportunities to grow JSR’s business in India, South America and Africa by identifying suitable partners keen to develop their business by working with JSR.”

As well as international business trips, Ben is currently undertaking an intensive three month induction into the JSR business, including practical training at boar studs, AI facilities and commercial farms.

Yolanda Hou was part of JSR Genetics team who last year worked to secure a £1 million contract with Chinese state owned import/export company the China Animal Husbandry Group (CAHG). Yolanda, who will continue to play a key role in increasing JSR business in China and Asia, started work with JSR last year as part of the UK China Graduate Work Experience Programme, a reciprocal government led initiative giving UK companies access to the top 2-5% of Chinese graduates.

Yolanda, a 26 year old law graduate originating from the Shandong Province of China, was specially selected for JSR by recruitment experts and will be assisting International Sales Director Paul Anderson, and his team, in all aspects of their work with Chinese customers.

“It was through our connections with AHDB and BPEX that we became aware of the reciprocal scheme that allows Chinese graduates to work in the UK for British companies interested in exporting to China,” explains Mr Anderson. “China and Asia are very important target markets for JSR and we recognise how vital it is to have the best team on the ground to liaise with customers and provide local insight. Yolanda’s training in law and superb translation skills will be an asset during contract negotiations and ensure effective communication at all times.

“The main part of my new role will be to manage our customers in China ensuring efficient communication to help producers improve herd performance by maximising genetic potential,” comments Yolanda “It is well known that UK pig genetics are amongst the best in the world.”

JSR have already successfully established thriving nucleus herds in Japan and Korea and are continuing to develop a presence in Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and China.
