The contract, signed on 6th July 2010 between Managing Director Hon Wai Tang and JSR Genetics’ International Sales Director Paul Anderson, is welcomed as a major step forward by both companies.
“JSR is the perfect genetics provider for us,” says Hon Wai Tang, “as a recent visit with five farmer customers in the UK confirmed. We also had a chance to meet the technical teams that provide on-going support and viewed the livestock that we are confident will meet our needs. We were particularly impressed with the high litter sizes JSR dam lines are able to achieve and their ability to thrive in a wide range of environments.”
Following the UK visit, 40 JSR Geneconverter and Genepacker boars and gilts arrived in Malaysia and, on the 16th July, were distributed to some of the Countries key pig producers. “It was a great day for Tong Fung Enterprises and it will be excellent for the Malaysian pig producers,” says Hon Wai Tang. “Long term with our own nucleus and multiplication herd we will be able to offer JSR AI and breeding stock to improve pig production, feed efficiency and carcase yield. As specialists in feed, health and farm management, it will make our product offering more comprehensive.”
Paul Anderson for JSR is equally enthusiastic. “We are delighted to have strengthened our presence in Asia and to be working with Hon Wai Tang and his team. Their local knowledge is key to maximizing the potential of JSR sirelines, such as the Generconverter 500 and 600 which are both ideally suited to the Asian market. Our new sireline, the Geneconverter 600, also particularly impressed Hon Wai Tang. Its feed efficiency, yield of lean meat and conformation are at a premium in Malaysia, where pigs are purchased liveweight and therefore scored according to leanness and shape.”
“Vibrant partnerships like this are the life blood of our future business,” concludes Mr Anderson. “Working together we can identify and fully exploit opportunities that otherwise could be overlooked. It is a robust relationship that will benefit both parties and ensure ongoing growth in the region’s pig sector.”
