JSR Genetics, the leading international pig genetics company, has made strong inroads into the expanding Asian market by securing two new highly experienced agents, in Vietnam and Thailand.
Henry Hieu is General Manager of the Viet Huy Trading and Service Company in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Boensang ‘Ding’ Prasitphol, of Accon Trading Company Ltd, based in Bangkok is the new agent for Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
“JSR are delighted to be working with two such knowledgeable industry experts in what is such a crucial market,” says Paul Anderson, JSR Genetics’ International Sales Director, “not just for JSR but in terms of producing enough food to feed a growing population.
“Vietnam has over four million sows - Thailand alone has one million - so there is huge potential and on trips with Ding through Thailand and Cambodia the response to UK pig genetics from JSR was really positive. The local expertise and market knowledge of Henry and Ding, and their teams, will be key to realising this opportunity and ensuring we provide what the market demands.”
Boensang ‘Ding’ Prasitphol has many years experience spanning the pig industry, including as an on-farm consultant. “Demand for both fresh and frozen JSR semen is already increasing rapidly,” says Mr Prasitphol, “and we are looking forward to being able to develop this market in the future with the support of Paul and the global JSR team.”
Henry Hieu, and his team at Viet Huy Trading and Service, currently distributes feed ingredients, additives and machinery – together with AI supplies – to local Vietnamese producers. Interest levels in JSR breeding stock are running high and during August Paul Anderson will spend one week with Henry visiting the potential clients in Vietnam and a group of 8-9 farmers will make a selection trip to JSR in the UK. An AI storage bank for JSR frozen semen imported from the UK to quickly meet local customer demand for quality genetics is planned for the very near future.
