On 30th January 2020, MSD Animal Health’s swine team were once again honoured to receive an award from Animal Pharm, an Internatinal publication that is a reference in the animal health sector. Porcilis Lawsonia vaccine, the first and only registered injectable vaccine in Europe against swine ileitis, has been recognised as the Best New Animal Food Product of 2019.
The bacterium Lawsonia intracellularis is prevalent on pig farms causing production losses, leading to economic loss, in the swine sector.
Porcilis Lawsonia is the only single-dose, freeze-dried, intramuscular bacterial vaccine for piglets from three weeks of age, to be used as standalone vaccine or mixed with Porcilis PCV M Hyo for a triple protection in a single vaccination. This is the second year in a row that technology from the MSD Swine portfolio has won this prestigious award. Last year, we accepted this honour for the IDAL® family of intradermal devices.
