WelFarmers project represented by Teagasc at the Irish Pig Health Society Symposium
Teagasc used this opportunity to promote the WelFarmers project at its dedicated stand. Flyers were distributed to attendees, and the team engaged visitors by explaining the project’s aims and methodology. It was a valuable occasion to connect with businesses active in the pig sector, as well as pig farmers from all over Ireland.
The event also allowed for a welcome catch-up with members of the WelFarmers Irish Regional Network, including some of the farmers who have contributed information for the collection of Good Practices.
A highlight of the symposium was a presentation by Dr Edgar Garcia Manzanilla, WP5 Leader for WelFarmers and Head of Teagasc’s Pig & Poultry Research and Knowledge Transfer Department, who was one of the invited guest speakers. He delivered a well-received talk on the key health challenges being faced by the Irish pig sector—both in recent years and in the future.
